Inspiring Minds, Nurturing Hearts, Shaping Bright Futures
At Richmond Park School, our Primary section (Year 1 to Year 6) is a vibrant, dynamic environment where curiosity thrives, creativity flourishes, and every child is truly seen, supported, and valued.
From those exciting first days in Year 1 to the confident transition into Secondary School, we guide each pupil through a transformative journey — nurturing their academic potential, emotional wellbeing, and social development to build the strongest foundation for lifelong success.
Grounded in the English National Curriculum and enriched with a broad, imaginative programme, our approach connects learning across subjects, making education meaningful, engaging, and deeply relevant to the world children are growing into.
Through active learning, cross‑curricular projects, and hands-on experiences, pupils develop not only essential knowledge but the ability to think critically, solve problems creatively, and approach challenges with confidence, independence, and resilience. Above all, they discover the joy of learning.

A Confident Start to a Lifelong Learning Journey
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)
Key Stage 1 at Richmond Park School is where children take their first truly confident steps into primary education. Building on the curiosity, imagination, and creativity nurtured in the Early Years, pupils begin to explore the world through more structured, subject‑based learning — all within a warm, inspiring, and deeply supportive environment designed to help them thrive.
Our approach combines active, hands‑on learning with meaningful real‑life experiences, ensuring that every lesson feels engaging, relevant, and full of purpose. With a strong emphasis on literacy, mathematics, and personal development, children develop the essential skills that shape both academic success and emotional growth.
Throughout these formative years, pupils learn to think independently, express themselves with clarity, and collaborate confidently with their peers. They are encouraged to make connections, ask thoughtful questions, and celebrate their achievements — nurturing a sense of pride and a genuine love for learning.
Every child is guided by caring, committed, and highly skilled teachers who tailor learning to individual strengths, interests, and needs. This personalised approach ensures that Key Stage 1 offers a broad, balanced, and enriching education that builds both knowledge and character.
By the end of Year 2, pupils emerge as confident, independent learners, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of Key Stage 2 with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong sense of self-belief.
Where Independence, Curiosity, and Critical Thinking Flourish
Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)
Lower Key Stage 2 at Richmond Park School marks an exciting new phase in every child’s educational journey — a time when learners begin to stretch their independence, deepen their curiosity, and develop the critical thinking skills that will shape their future success.
Led by our Director of Lower Key Stage 2, the team brings together passionate teachers and talented assistants who ignite creativity, inspire confidence, and nurture each child’s unique strengths. Together, they create a dynamic, supportive, and stimulating environment where pupils feel valued, empowered, and eager to embrace new challenges.
In Years 3 and 4, children grow rapidly in independence and self‑belief. They take on new responsibilities, explore increasingly complex ideas, and continue to learn through creativity, hands‑on discovery, and thoughtful reflection. Lessons are carefully crafted to spark curiosity, encourage collaboration, and help pupils make meaningful connections across subjects.
Our curriculum builds depth and confidence in literacy, mathematics, science, and the humanities, while specialist teaching in Spanish, Music, PE, Food Technology, and Computing broadens horizons and nurtures diverse talents. Throughout these two years, children learn to communicate clearly, work both independently and as part of a team, and take genuine pride in their achievements.
By the end of Year 4, pupils emerge as confident, reflective learners — fully prepared to embrace the excitement and challenge of Upper Key Stage 2.
“In Lower Key Stage 2, curiosity becomes confidence — and learning becomes a journey of discovery.”
— LKS2 Team
Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 & 6)
Upper Key Stage 2 represents the final and most transformative stage of Primary education — a period filled with challenge, growth, and preparation for the exciting journey ahead. Led by our Upper Key Stage 2, the team is composed of experienced, forward‑thinking educators who inspire pupils to think critically, take responsibility, and step into leadership with confidence and maturity.
Working collaboratively, our teachers ensure that learning is both rigorous and joyful, guiding every child to reach their full potential as they prepare for the transition to Secondary School.
Where Independence Meets Inspiration
In Years 5 and 6, pupils take a significant step forward in their educational journey. They assume greater responsibility for their learning, develop sharper critical‑thinking skills, and gain the confidence to express their ideas with clarity, conviction, and purpose.
Learning is purposeful, engaging, and future focused, blending academic excellence with creativity, collaboration, and a growing awareness of the wider world.
Pupils explore rich, cross‑curricular themes such as:
- Ancient Civilisations
- Earth and Space
- Sustainability and Global Responsibility
- World War II and Historical Change
Specialist teaching in Spanish, Music, Computing, PE, and Food Technology ensures a broad, balanced, and inspiring curriculum that nurtures diverse talents and interests.
Growing Leaders, Thinkers, and Global Citizens
Throughout these two years, children evolve into independent, reflective learners who understand their strengths, embrace challenges, and show compassion and empathy towards others. They learn to collaborate effectively, lead with integrity, and approach new situations with confidence and curiosity.
Ready for Secondary School — and Beyond
By the time pupils complete Year 6, they are fully prepared — academically, socially, and emotionally — for the transition to Secondary School. They leave Richmond Park School as confident young people with strong values, a love of learning, and the skills they need to thrive in the exciting world ahead.
