On 30 March 2025, Richmond Park School (RPS) successfully hosted a interschool chess tournament, attracting participation from 30 schools and approximately 160 players. The event was a good example of the high calibre of young chess talents and the dedication of everyone involved.
RPS students demonstrated exceptional chess skills through the tournament. Unai from Year 4 came first in the Benjamin group, while Noé, also from Year 4, achieved a meritorious 5th place. Additionally, eight more Year 4 students competed in the same category, all delivering commendable performances.
In the Pre-Benjamin category, four RPS players showcased their impressive chess skills, with Ariana from Year 3 achieving a notable 10th place finish and the other Year 3 students achieved very estimable results. This highlights the promising talent within our young students.
The tournament was not only a competitive event but also an enriching experience for all attendees. Special thanks are extended to David, our dedicated RPS Chess coordinator, as well as to all the students, parents, and other schools participating and supporting the event.
Overall, the Chess Tournament was a resounding success, reflecting the hard work and enthusiasm of everyone involved, and making it a memorable occasion for Richmond Park School.
