As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality educational experience for our youngest learners, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Sophie Pritchard as EYFS Director and ALN Support Teacher within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team. She will no longer be a class teacher in order to fully carry out this new role and the responsibilities involved.
This strategic appointment further strengthens the provision offered across Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception by introducing dedicated leadership, specialist expertise and additional teaching support throughout the department. The role has been designed to enhance both the educational experience of our pupils and the professional development of our staff, ensuring that our Early Years provision continues to evolve in line with best practice.
A key focus of the position is supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Through early identification, targeted interventions and personalised support strategies, children can receive the assistance they need at the earliest possible stage. This proactive approach helps to build confidence, encourage independence and maximise opportunities for academic, social and emotional success. By addressing individual needs promptly and effectively, we can ensure that every child has the strongest possible foundation for future learning.
In addition to supporting pupils, Ms Pritchard will play an important role in guiding and developing our EYFS team. Through coaching, mentoring, classroom support and the sharing of best practice, she will work alongside teachers and teaching assistants to further enhance teaching and learning across all EYFS classes. This collaborative approach helps maintain consistently high standards while ensuring that learning experiences remain engaging, inclusive and developmentally appropriate for every child.
This appointment also reflects a wider philosophy that underpins our work at Richmond Park School: a commitment to continuous improvement. While families naturally see many aspects of school life, some of the most impactful educational developments take place behind the scenes. Regular staff training, curriculum review, analysis of learning data, investment in specialist roles, refinement of teaching strategies and the development of tailored support programmes are all examples of initiatives that contribute significantly to the quality of education our pupils receive.
Although these improvements are not always visible on a daily basis, they play a vital role in strengthening outcomes for children and ensuring that our educational provision remains innovative, responsive and effective. As a school, we are constantly evaluating our practices and exploring new ways to enhance learning, wellbeing and achievement for every pupil.
The appointment of Ms Sophie Pritchard is another important step in this journey. It reinforces our determination to provide the very best start to each child’s educational experience and reflects our belief that every pupil deserves to be supported, challenged and nurtured to reach their full potential. Through continuous reflection, strategic development and investment in people, we remain committed to delivering an outstanding educational experience for all members of our school community.
