RPS Nursery Kenya – school community update

Progress & Milestones

The RPS Nursery Kenya project has successfully moved beyond the construction phase, culminating in its official inauguration earlier this year. As the new academic year begins, students and staff are settling into a fully operational learning environment that reflects months of coordinated effort and community support. Early achievements include improved attendance, smoother classroom routines, and strong engagement from teachers and families.

One of the community’s main concerns has been the consistent supply of food to ensure students’ healthy physical and cognitive development. As shown in recent photos, the delivery of essential food items continues without interruption. This stability is made possible through the framework agreement established with the Government of Kenya, which remains fully active. With these foundations in place, the school is well positioned for a productive and encouraging year ahead.

We would like to point out the generous contribution made at the end of May by the Lions Club España, its delegation in “Mijas” has  donated 1.200 Euros towards complementing the alimentation supply. With this amount of money each of the 120 children will be able to have 1 day per month (for 10 months) of extra fruit or vegetables added on to their diet.  We would like to send a very warm thank you to the Lions Club España.

Progress, Creativity and Solidarity (Tingatinga)

The RPS Nursery Kenya project has now fully moved beyond construction, with the inauguration completed and the academic year successfully underway. Daily routines are running smoothly, and early achievements reflect the commitment of teachers, students, and families.

We extend heartfelt congratulations to the entire community—especially our primary teachers and pupils—for their inspiring cross‑curricular initiative based on the vibrant work of the African artist TingaTinga, whose colourful, playful style celebrates African wildlife and storytelling.

This creative effort helped drive our fundraising campaign for V., bringing us close to an extraordinary total of €3,000, which will go directly to the food and academic scholarship programme for the 2026/27 school year. As seen in recent photos, the supply of essential food items continues normally under the framework agreement with the Government of Kenya.

These contributions from the RPS parents fill us with pride, as our children increasingly feel connected to their project in Africa and aware of the importance of generosity of our families in a world marked by deep inequalities.

Progress, Creativity and Community Spirit (House Days)

We are successfully keeping to our commitments with our biggest charity project RPS Nursery Kenya. A key driver of this success has been our House Days—lately, Foxes and Badgers—where a joyful day of activities unites the entire RPS community while raising funds for our initiative in Africa.

We extend special thanks to Ms Sancho, House Day Coordinator, for her leadership in shaping this new format, which has been met with remarkable enthusiasm. The generous dessert donations from families have added a delicious touch to these events, strengthening both community spirit and our shared commitment. As shown in recent photos, food supplies continue to arrive normally under the framework agreement with the Government of Kenya. Our students grow increasingly proud of their project in Africa, developing a deep awareness of the importance of solidarity in a world marked by significant inequalities.
