A joyful journey into the world of clowning with Fausto Ansaldi

This October, our students enjoyed an inspiring and unforgettable artistic experience — an immersive workshop exploring the fascinating world of clowning and its stage practice.

The day began with a lively and joyful session bringing together pupils from Year 8 and Year 9, who enthusiastically discovered the art of clowning through creative exercises and playful improvisations. Guided by a visiting specialist, they explored how clowns use imagination, expression, and spontaneity to connect with their audience and tell stories through movement and emotion.

Later in the day, the Year 10 IGCSE Drama class had the opportunity to take their learning even further in an extended session designed especially for them. Together with their Drama teacher, the IGCSE students delved more deeply into the techniques and principles of clowning, focusing on how these skills can enhance their own dramatic work and stage presence.

Through this specialised workshop, students explored the importance of listening, reacting authentically, and embracing creativity without fear of failure. They discovered that clowning is not simply about comedy — it is a powerful artistic practice that celebrates vulnerability, imagination, and human connection.

The experience was an overwhelming success. Students left the workshop energised and inspired, having developed greater confidence, creativity, and collaboration within their groups. Their teacher was delighted to see the enthusiasm and growth that the session sparked, noting how each student found new ways to express themselves and engage with performance.

It was a day filled with laughter, discovery, and artistic growth — a true celebration of creativity and the joy of learning together. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this extraordinary experience possible.
