Sporting highlights autumn term

It has been an exciting and action-packed start to the term for sport at RPS. Pupils across the school have taken part in a wide range of fixtures, tournaments, and new initiatives, demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They have represented the school with pride, both at home and away.

Fixtures So Far

Our Year 4 pupils kicked off the term with an inclusive football fixture against Dallington School, where the entire year group took part in a series of competitive matches. It was a brilliant opportunity for every pupil to get involved, develop their skills and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition.

The British International School Sports League has also begun, featuring ongoing fixtures across the year in a variety of sports for schools in the north of Madrid. Both our Year 7/8 and Year 5/6 boys’ and girls’ teams have taken part in the first rounds of competition. We are proud to announce that RPS were winners of Round 1 in the Year 5/6 category – a fantastic achievement!

In addition, RPS hosted Tag Rugby tournaments for both Year 7/8 and Year 9 boys and girls, welcoming visiting schools for a day of exciting and energetic matches. Our teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout.

Another highlight this term was the Year 7/8 Cricket tournament at Campo de Beisbol, where RPS were crowned tournament winners. Congratulations to all involved on this outstanding success!

Beyond the Fixtures

This term also saw the launch of our new “richMOVE” initiative, designed to encourage students to take on a variety of physical and well-being challenges throughout the year. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of health and well-being beyond traditional PE and sport, helping students to develop lifelong healthy habits.

The Primary School “Silly Sock Day” was another fun and memorable event, bringing laughter and colour to the day while celebrating creativity and community spirit.

Networking cocktail at the British Embassy

On Wednesday, 15 October, our Career Adviser attended a networking cocktail organized by the British Embassy. The event gathered representatives from various UK universities and educational institutions to promote collaboration and exchange valuable insights.

Participating in this event was an excellent opportunity to build connections and gather updated information about university programs and admission processes, which will help us provide more accurate and personalized guidance to our students.

The timing was ideal, as the following day our school proudly hosted the British University Fair, welcoming several of these representatives on campus.

Sports Leaders Programme

Our Sports Leaders Programme has officially begun following a highly successful recruitment process. We received an impressive 65 applications from students in Years 7–12, all eager to take on a leadership role within the PE department. From these, 18 Sports Leaders were selected to represent the school this year.
