Education without borders: Richmond Park School’s vision takes shape in Kenya

Richmond Park School has taken another step in one of its most ambitious and meaningful international initiatives to date: RPS Nursery Kenya, an educational project that embodies the school’s long-standing commitment to global solidarity, equal access to education and sustainable development.

Over the summer months, construction work on the new nursery made significant headway. The school, located in a rural community in Kenya, is being built in collaboration with the Vipeika Foundation. When completed, it will provide daily education and care for around 150 children aged between two and six years old.

The project aims to open its doors during the first quarter of 2026, offering not only quality early education but also nutritious meals, basic medical care and a safe, nurturing environment. This initiative is part of Richmond Park School’s ongoing effort to extend its educational values beyond borders and support children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“RPS Nursery Kenya represents a truly significant step forward for our school community,” a spokesperson said. “It reflects our belief that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.”

The project also plays an important role in the school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, particularly in relation to Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), offering students the chance to learn about other cultures, develop empathy, and take part in real-world actions that make a difference. As construction nears completion, Richmond Park School is now inviting families and supporters to help cover the nursery’s initial operating costs through monthly sponsorships or donations. Contributions will go towards essentials such as construction of buildings, school uniforms, meals, and resources for the children and their families.

“Any contribution, no matter how modest, will have a lasting impact,” the school added. “Together, we are building not only a school, but a future filled with hope and opportunity.”

All donations will be managed through the Vipeika Foundation, with full adherence to current data protection legislation.

Richmond Park School expressed its gratitude to the entire school community for its ongoing generosity and engagement. “This project is a powerful way to show our children that empathy, cooperation and social justice are not just values to be taught — but to be lived.”
