Friendly basketball match against Fuentelarreyna – we are up and running!

The pre-season friendlies for our basketball teams have officially begun, and the first match offered a very encouraging performance. After three weeks of dedicated training, our players demonstrated both progress and determination, showing that the effort put in on the practice court is already bearing fruit.

One of the most striking aspects of the contest was the great spirit of our team. Despite facing opponents who, in some cases, were up to two years older, our players showed no fear and competed bravely from the very first whistle. They displayed teamwork, energy, and resilience, refusing to be intimidated by the age advantage of their rivals.

Particular highlights included the contribution of our two debutants, who both managed to score in their first appearance – a memorable way to mark their introduction to the team. Meanwhile, the leadership of our more experienced “veterans” shone through, guiding the younger players and keeping morale high throughout the match.

The challenge grew tougher in the final quarter, when fatigue began to set in. With fewer substitutions available, our players understandably tired against a squad with a deeper bench and more rotation options. Even so, they battled until the end, never giving up and continuing to fight for every ball.

Although the result was not the focus, this friendly has left plenty of reasons for optimism. The blend of youthful enthusiasm, steady leadership, and collective spirit promises an exciting season ahead for Colegio Fuentelarreyna basketball.
