On Saturday 11 February 2023 we celebrated a very successful Open Day at Richmond Park School (RPS)with more than 70 families, representing more than 100 potential pupils. We showed our facilities during over 24 tours led by our teachers, teaching assistants and, this year for the first time, representatives of the school’s prefects (Year 10 students) and Student Council members (Year 9 students). This was a very proud moment, seeing our students explaining and illustrating their daily life at school in such an enthusiastic way.
Our admissions team welcomed our visitors with some refreshments and snacks to prepare them for their exciting tour of the whole school. Our students especially did an outstanding job, talking about their lives at RPS, showing samples of curricular but also co-curricular and extra-curricular projects and topics, and transmitting a realistic picture of their experience as a student at Richmond Park School.
After visiting our modern reception area, our visitors had the chance to listen to a detailed explanation of our approach to lunch and healthy eating and had the chance to ask questions directly to the leaders about our dining hall supply company.
The tour reached every area of our building. Setting off from the dining hall we walked all families straight through the Early Years classrooms and the whole primary and our recently inaugurated secondary section.
We also visited other learning spaces, such as the performance centre, the music area, the knowledge centre and our spacious sports facilities.
It was very reassuring to see there is still great interest in the market for our school, especially EYFS. Even though we try our best to accommodate everyone, in reality there are already long waiting lists for all EYFS and KS1 classes.
