Year 8 and 9 concert<\/strong>
Congratulations to Years 8 and 9 for putting on such a great showcase of their musical and creative talents on Thursday 29 May. They demonstrated their skills through instrumental, vocal and creative work. They collaborated beautifully by performing, presenting, organising sound and stage equipment and understanding all their different roles. Well done to all the students for their hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 1 visited the Real Jardin Bot\u00e1nico<\/strong>
On Monday 9 June, Year 1 visited the Real Jardin Bot\u00e1nico de Madrid as part of their learning about plants. They began the morning by acting out the life cycle of a plant before practising and using their map skills to navigate their way around the gardens and explore nature. The children enjoyed observing and comparing plants to help them understand how plants vary and grow. They were amazed by some of the different plants that they saw. Everyone also had the opportunity to sow seeds so that they can continue learning at home and apply their knowledge of what plants need to help them grow their own plant. A wonderful time was had by all.

Year 7 Lost Words project sharing<\/strong><\/strong>
Well done to Year 7 for sharing all their cross curricular project work based on the Lost Words Book of nature poems. The students sang a range of songs demonstrating how music can represent nature and composed nature-inspired pieces. They read their own poems which gave voice and meaning to the animals and plants they chose to write about. The students described their learning in science, explaining their work based on plant dissection and reproduction. We were treated to some beautiful artwork demonstrating the students\u2019 interpretation of celtic and botanical images.r their hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Year 6 end of year trip to Gand\u00c1\u00ada<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Year 6 enjoyed a memorable and enriching end-of-primary trip to Gandia. The students participated in a variety of beach activities, including numerous beach games, and engaged in water sports such as paddleboarding and windsurfing. Additionally, they took a boat trip during which they learned about the natural environment of Valencia and the traditional houses known as ‘barracas.’

The group also spent an exhilarating day at Terra Mitica, a renowned theme park, and concluded the trip with visits to the aquarium and the Science Museum in Valencia. Throughout the journey, the children developed their independence and teamwork skills by sharing bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as packing their own suitcases. Their positive attitude and enthusiasm contributed significantly to the overall success and enjoyment of the trip.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 9 travelled to Salou and Barcelona with the travel company DOS on Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 June 2025. Students were accompanied by Mr Bird and Ms Garcia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was a wonderful trip giving Year 9 an opportunity to enjoy new experiences and to be together to have fun in community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students stayed in a beautiful hotel. The buffet restaurant was of the highest quality and there was something to always do.<\/p>\n

Students went to the beach, swam in the sea and hotel pool, visited Port Aventura and did water sports with qualified instructors. The final day was spent exploring the beauty of Barcelona with qualified tour guides.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travelling by AVE train was also great fun and allowed students time to relax after four busy days of activities. Well done to everyone involved and particularly to the students who were exemplary in every respect.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yr 5 trip to Alcal\u00e1 de Henares<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n


Year 5 students visited Alcal\u00e1 de Henares as part of the topic about Miguel de Cervantes. After visiting the birthplace of the famous writer, they were able to walk through the Jewish quarter to reach the facade of the University of Alcal\u00e1 where they heard some curiosities of university life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, they were able to visit the chapel of Oidor, where Cervantes was baptized, and ended this fantastic visit to the city contemplating some of the mosaics exhibited in the Archaeological Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To end this busy day, they enjoyed a picnic in a nice park in the centre of the city. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Yr 3 trip to Bosque Encantado<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Year 3 children enjoyed a tranquil morning exploring ‘El Bosque Encantado’. They took part in a yoga workshop, explored the forest and learned about local botany. Our science topic this term is learning about the movement of our bodies and how the skeleton, bones and joints work. Yoga was an excellent prompt to allow children to further explore this topic. Additionally, they loved seeing tiny fairy doors on many of the trees and imagining the secret lives of the magical creatures that could live behind the doors. All in all it was a magical and educational experience for everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Bird and Mr McCrossan took Year 11 for a fun day at Retiro Park on Wednesday 11 June. Students went on boats, bicycles and had an opportunity to enjoy the delights of one of Madrid\u2019s most beautiful parks. The weather was on our side and great fun was had by all.  It was a really enjoyable way to relax together after the intensive Year 11 IGCSE programme of examinations. Mr Bird was particularly pleased to have a chance to say goodbye to the students in an informal context as many of the students had been at Richmond Park School during his five years here. We enjoyed a delicious lunch together and developed independence and resilience skills in an outdoor context. A wonderful day!<\/p>\n<\/div>

Yr 9 trip to Toledo<\/strong>
<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On 11 June, Year 9 students visited Toledo as part of their Spanish Studies curriculum. Throughout the day, they explored the city\u2019s rich cultural heritage, focusing on the coexistence of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlights of the visit included the Puerta de Bisagra, the Church of San Rom\u00e1n, the Cathedral, the Mosque of Torner\u00c1\u00adas, the Synagogue of El Tr\u00e1nsito, and the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a valuable and inspiring day of learning in a historic setting.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Yr 6 visit to El Prado Museum<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n


This Wednesday, on the occasion of the topic of the third quarter, Diego Vel\u00e1zquez; Year 6 visited the Prado Museum to contemplate the most relevant works of the painter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arriving at the gates of the museum, they enjoyed some time together to have a snack. At the beginning of the visit, the guides explained to the students the context and some works by other artists who played an important role in Vel\u00e1zquez’s working life, such as Titian and Rubens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, the tour focused entirely on various works by Diego Vel\u00e1zquez, which the students had studied in class beforehand. At this point, they had the opportunity to demonstrate everything they already knew about the famous painter.<\/p>\n



Yr 11 visit to A la Par<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n


On Friday 13 June some of the Year 11 students had a wonderful experience at the A La Par Foundation, where they were shown how to make cheesecake by the young adults and were entertained by watching a play called Teadmiro (\u201cI admire you\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

As well as this, the Year 11 students were treated to a tour around the premises visiting the many workshops which included a sweet factory. Here the young people are commissioned to make marshmallow towers for El Corte Ingl\u00e9s, amongst others<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a privilege to see and experience the talents of the foundation \u00b4s students, and Richmond Park School is proud to be a partner of the A La Par Foundation.<\/p>\n

Musical Theatre club performance of `A Midsummer Night’s Dream \u00b4<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations to all the students who performed in the RPS Musical Theatre Club performance on Tuesday 17 June. The students made us all proud with their incredible acting, singing and dancing as part of A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The Musical. The audience were drawn right into the story thanks to the acting skills and incredible characterisation. There were some hilarious moments from the mechanicals, some magical moments from our fairies and of course plenty of Midsummer silliness!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 11 CAS hike<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Year 11 students this week braved the heat of Madrid to get out and about as part of their introduction to CAS for their IB course. They hiked several kilometres to the Mirador Valpalomero where they were inspired by the natural environment to begin discussing ideas and possibilities for their own CAS programmes beginning in Year 12. They came up with some thoughtful ideas for developing their creative skills, whilst engaging in activity and service. They will surely get a lot out of the opportunities that CAS presents them to develop as well-rounded, balanced and outward looking global citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Short story competition<\/b><\/h4>\n

RPS organised a short story competition that took place on 24 June at Secret Kingdom\u2019s bookshop. <\/span><\/p>\n

Approximately 30 teachers, parents and students from five international schools were in attendance. Parents and teachers told us that the competition had generated a lot of inspiration and that they are looking forward to similar events in the future. <\/span><\/p>\n

A special congratulations to our Celia (Year 8) and Miranda (Year 6), who were chosen as finalists by the judge – children\u2019s author, Lisa Thompson.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPORTS<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n


Richmond Park School Benjamin crowned Highlands invitational cup champions in thrilling fashion<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Richmond Park Benjamin ended their season on a high with a memorable triumph in the Highlands Invitational Cup, showcasing both quality and character in a tournament full of excitement and drama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their opening match, they produced a 7-5 victory in a high-scoring encounter, driven by a dazzling brace from Santi, whose goals set the tone early on. Angela\u2019s unselfish play and key goals from Beltran ensured Richmond stayed ahead, while Guillem played a vital role between the sticks with several important saves. Defensively, Jaime, William and Juan worked tirelessly against a lively opposition, contributing significantly to a well-earned win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final game of the day proved even more dramatic. Richmond trailed early against a strong Hortaleza side, but showed great resilience. Goals from Pablo, Beltran and Angela turned the game on its head. Alejandro was a creative force with three assists, while Felix and Lucas kept the pressure on with their attacking intent. As the match edged towards its finale \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and with Richmond needing a goal to lift the cup \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Beltran struck directly from kick-off with the final kick of the game, sealing the win and the trophy in spectacular fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge thank you goes to Highlands School for hosting a fantastic event. Congratulations to Richmond Park Benjamin, whose strong team spirit, determination, and quality throughout the season were rewarded in style. Credit must also go to Mr McGarry and Mr Broughman for their outstanding coaching and leadership throughout the campaign \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009d their guidance has been instrumental in the team’s growth and success. A fitting end to a brilliant campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Spectacular end of the season for our volleyball teams!<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This month we played the last match of the Catholic Schools League of Madrid, and there could not have been a better ending… with a double victory!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Infantil team faced Claret \u201cC\u201d school in a match that, from the beginning, was presented as a great challenge. But our players, with dedication, concentration and a lot of teamwork, managed to impose themselves and take a well-deserved victory, a golden brooch for a season full of effort and evolution!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For its part, the Alev\u00c1\u00adn team played against Valdefuentes \u201cC\u201d and also gave us a great game. The girls showed how much they have learned during these months, winning their match with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PE trip to M\u00e1laga<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This year at RPS, we launched our first ever sports performance tour for year 7 and year 8 students. All students were invited to attend a trial period for football and volleyball, from which 30 students were selected to represent the school in sporting fixtures against schools from Marbella and Malaga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday 5 June, students took part in a competitive festival of sport against English International College, Marbella. Students competed in a range of sports including football, volleyball, basketball, rounders and swimming. This intense day was capped off with a visit to a nearby beach where we spent the afternoon playing even more sport!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday 6 June, we then travelled closer to Malaga to compete against the British School of Malaga. The students took part in football and volleyball round robin competitions before heading back to Madrid that evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the success of the first edition of this trip, we look forward to starting our plans for something similar next year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
