VIPEIKA<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, February 14, Saint Valentine\u2019s Day, we were honoured to receive a visit from Silvia Fl\u00f3rez, the founder and president of Vipeika. What would have been a routine visit to catch up turned into an exciting announcement: the confirmation of the beginning of construction for our Nursery in Turkana, Kenya. In May 2025, Richmond Park Nursery Kenya will start to become a reality. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

 The Richmond community should be immensely proud of this initiative, which we embarked on over two years ago and have been supporting with regular donations. The nursery is expected to open its doors by the end of 2025, and we are thrilled to see two of our major projects progressing simultaneously: our Sixth Form Centre in Madrid and the Richmond Nursery in Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This nursery school aims to provide daily tuition and meals to over 120 children and their families. This beautiful collaboration between global partners and the Kenyan government has already resulted in more than 20 schools and over 3,000 students, some of whom have reached university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 In addition to financial contributions and raising awareness among our students, Richmond Park Nursery Kenya will offer fantastic opportunities to fulfill some of the CAS (Community Service) requirements of our IB program. Sending our IB students to Africa will be a unique, life-changing experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Silvia and the Vipeika Foundation for helping make these dreams a reality. We are excited to announce that Vipeika will play a significant role in our next Family Day on 14 June 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Year 8 videoconferencing opportunity with Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School in London<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A small number of our Year 8 community work with Mr Bird (Director of Student Formation) every Wednesday on an exciting project with a school in London. The online exchange started last year where the same students communicated together at least once per week in French, Spanish and English. We video call here in Madrid and they pick up the call in the UK.  \u00a0Both sets of students collaborate, have fun and learn about each other\u2019s cultures. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hope that this may grow to a stage where we are able to meet each other in real life. The students prepare in advance of the video call in order to make maximum use of the time together. It is wonderful to have an opportunity to learn about new experiences through meeting people from another culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday 1 February we were delighted to welcome close to 100 prospective parents to join our community in our second Open Day of this academic year. It is a measure of how popular the school is and our high reputation amongst the local community that we had so many visitors. We would like to thank all the Secondary students that helped us presenting the school to these families, showing them how proud they feel about studying with us and also appreciate the keenness that the visitors experienced.<\/p>\n<\/div>

As part of their music curriculum, and as an extension of the opera project children joined in Year 5, Years 6 and 7 attended the operetta La Cenicienta by Pauline Viardot at the Real Teatro de Retiro. It was a great rendition, set in modern times but retaining all the magic of traditional fairy tales. The music was beautiful, and everyone had lots of fun! In previous music lessons, children discovered details about Pauline Viardot\u2019s life and her contributions to music. We all enjoyed the performance immensely!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This term, Reception’s topic is ‘Everyday Superheroes.’ The children have been learning about different jobs and how they help in the community. The children had the opportunity to become chef’s for the day during their visit to Kitchen Academy, Alcobendas. They learnt how to make tuna empanadas and apple muffins. They also learnt about the different food groups and how a balanced diet helps us to stay healthy. It was an enjoyable and inspiring experience for all participants. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>

Year 2 visit Parque Europa<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As part of their ongoing studies about \u2018Homes Around the World\u2019, Year 2 went on a school trip to Parque Europa on Friday 14 February. Children \u2018travelled\u2019 around Europe on a guided tour and visited famous monuments such as the \u2018Eiffel Tower\u2019, \u2018Tower Bridge\u2019 and the \u2018Brandenburg Gate\u2019. During their visit, the children learnt facts about the different countries. The children had a wonderful time identifying how buildings and cultures are different around the world. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u00a0<\/strong>In order to keep you informed about the progress of the construction of the new Sixth Form Centre, we will send you pictures and descriptive texts every week. We would like to inform you that we are already carrying out the structural reinforcement works in the school parking lot, as well as the electricity connections, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These works do not pose any risk to the students and all the necessary safety measures have been taken. The approximate duration of these first works is between 3 and 4 weeks. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

On 1 February, our fry and infantile volleyball teams enthusiastically faced new challenges in the league. The fry team played against Sta. Joaquina de Vedruna in a hard-fought match. Although we did not achieve victory, our players showed great effort, teamwork and an exemplary attitude on the court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the children’s team faced Virgen de Mirasierra A and achieved an impressive victory. Our players stood out for their excellent coordination, precise serves and a great level of play that allowed them to dominate the match. These matches add up to a valuable learning experience that will help our players to continue growing during the season.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Richmond\u2019s firepower proves too much for Picasso B<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Richmond Benjam\u00c1\u00adn secured an impressive 7-5 victory over Picasso B in an end-to-end contest. The team started in dominant fashion, racing into a commanding 3-0 lead. However, Picasso B showed great resilience, mounting a strong comeback to level the game at 3-3. Just before halftime, Richmond regained the advantage with a crucial goal, heading into the break 4-3 up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second half continued in the same attacking fashion, with both teams creating chances. Richmond displayed excellent composure and determination to stay in front, finding the net three more times while managing to keep their opponents at bay. Goals from F\u00e9lix, Alejandro, Lucas, and Beltr\u00e1n sealed a well-earned victory. Up next, Richmond face EF Chamart\u00c1\u00adn in what promises to be another exciting encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richmond girl stun league leaders with thrilling comeback<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Richmond Park Alevin girls faced a tough challenge against joint league leaders Runnymede in a high-intensity match. The game began at a frantic pace, with Runnymede striking early to take the lead. Despite the setback, Richmond responded with determination, and Monica found the back of the net to level the score. However, Runnymede regained the advantage before halftime, going into the break with a narrow 2-1 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

The second half saw Richmond come out with renewed energy, putting their opponents under constant pressure. Their efforts paid off as Monica netted her second goal of the game, quickly followed by a well-taken strike from Gabriela to put Richmond ahead. With a 3-2 lead, the team showed resilience in defense, holding off Runnymede\u2019s attacks until the final whistle. It was a hard-fought and well-deserved victory for Richmond, proving their ability to compete with the best in the league.<\/p>\n<\/div>

RPS at Golf en Colegios programme<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On Friday 14 February, 18 Year 4 students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Centro Nacional de Golf, as part of the \u00abGolf en Colegios\u00bb programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival, we walked out on to the course and watched as a Challenge and European Tour professional played the 18th<\/sup> hole. He talked the children through his pre-shot routine and his targets. He wowed us all with a 300 metre drive and his approach shot to 10 feet. Unfortunately, his birdie putt hit the edge of the hole and just stayed out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this, the children split into two groups. First, they practised their putting with a variety of skill games. This helped them practise their grip and their stroke as well as distance control. Before long, the children looked like professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

 Next, they headed to the driving range. Here, they learned the fundamentals of stance, grip and the basic mechanics of a golf swing. The children demonstrated great persistence and technique, and were fortunate to receive close attention from the professionals. With more practise, their shots began going higher in the air and further into the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the trip was rounded off with the children receiving some special gifts from the centre. They were delighted with their golf hats, balls and markers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the trip was a huge success and we are very excited to see the initiative continue.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Unstoppable Richmond cruise to 12-0 win<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, 15 February, Richmond Benjamines delivered a stunning performance, defeating CF Chamartin 12-0 in a dominant display of attacking football. The team showcased incredible offensive quality, with goals coming from across the squad. Captain Pablo led by example, while Beltran, Alejandro, Felix, Jaime, Angela, and Lucas all found the back of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the other end of the pitch, Guillem and Juan ensured a solid defensive performance, securing a well-earned clean sheet. Meanwhile, Santi was a constant attacking threat, keeping the opposition under pressure throughout the game. It was a complete team performance, highlighting Richmond\u2019s attacking prowess and defensive resilience. Well done, Richmond!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriela on the scoresheet as Richmond Park Girls fight hard<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Richmond Park Girls Alevin team faced Joigny in a competitive match, starting brightly and creating several good opportunities to score. However, Joigny managed to take the lead and carried a 1-0 advantage into the break despite Richmond\u2019s attacking intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second half, Joiny found their rhythm and added four more goals to extend their lead. Gabriela got on the scoresheet for Richmond, showing great determination, but the final whistle saw a 5-1 victory for Joiny. Despite the result, the Richmond girls showed moments of real quality and fought hard throughout the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solid start but ISM\u2019s strength proves too much for Richmond<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Richmond Park Boys Alevin team faced ISM in a well-contested match. The game started at a measured pace, with both teams showing strong defensive organization and keeping chances to a minimum in the first half. Richmond held their own, matching ISM in possession and effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the break, ISM began to assert their dominance, using their physicality to control the game and create scoring opportunities. As Richmond struggled to cope with the increased intensity, ISM capitalized and managed to score three second-half goals to secure a 3-0 victory. Despite the result, Richmond showed great determination and will take valuable lessons from the game moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basketball<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Despite the casualties to training and the two expulsions suffered by five fouls, we have improved to such an extent that the same opponent against whom we played, had beaten us in the first round by 22 points, and this time by half, by 11 (30-19). And with 3 minutes left we were 3 points behind. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a coach I can only be proud of this team.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Scuba diving at RPS<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We are pleased to inform you of a new initiative at RPS. ZOEA Divecenter, with more than 30 years of experience in everything related to the seabed, has closed a collaboration agreement by which the Mirasierra community will be able to do diving activities in the RPS pool until the end of the academic year. Soon we will inform in more detail about the possible offers for our own community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was great excitement when ZOEA Divecenter had their first training session in the RPS pool. \u201dThe RPS pool is ideal for our activities with tempered water and easy access\u201d said the Zoea instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suitable to the occasion, It was extra fun to find an RPS student in the group of divers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the last February\u2019s weekend, our players starred in an exciting day in the competition, demonstrating their effort and passion for volleyball. The children’s team shined in their match against Sagrada Familia Oberon \u201cC\u201d, achieving an impeccable victory by winning all three sets. With a well-structured game, great precision in the serves and a solid defense, our players dominated the match from start to finish. On the other hand, the fry team played a very close match against Virgen de Mirasierra \u201cA\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The players gave their all on the court and were one step away from victory, but finally fell by only one set difference. Despite the outcome, they left a great impression with their effort, dedication and team spirit, which will undoubtedly make them stronger for the next matches. Congratulations to both teams for their dedication and commitment! Let’s keep going, Richmond Park School!<\/p>\n<\/div>
