The content is fast\u2011paced, repetitive, and deliberately absurd, which makes it appealing to children and easy to repeat.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although it may appear silly or harmless at first, many of the phrases do not have a clear meaning or become inappropriate or unsettling when explained.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Example of a popular character<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One common example is a cartoon\u2011style or AI\u2011generated character with an exaggerated or unnatural appearance and a loud, distorted voice. The character may shout repeated phrases that <em>sound<\/em> Italian but are mostly gibberish.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When translated or explained, the phrases can include:<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li>Insults or rude language<\/li><li>References to aggression or threats<\/li><li>Shouted commands or chaotic speech<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children often repeat these phrases without understanding what they mean, because they enjoy the sound or because friends are saying them.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Who is this content targeted at?<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although many children come across Italian brainrot, it is not designed for young children.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is generally targeted at:<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li>Teenagers and older users<\/li><li>Audiences familiar with ironic, dark, or shock humour<\/li><li>Users of short\u2011form video platforms such as TikTok and YouTube Shorts<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to social media algorithms, younger children are frequently exposed, even when the content is not age\u2011appropriate.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Where might children see this content?<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children may encounter Italian brainrot:<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li>On TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels<\/li><li>Through shared videos or audio clips in messaging apps<\/li><li>On gaming platforms, where phrases are repeated by others<\/li><li>In the playground, as children copy what they have heard<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some characters and phrases are also being turned into \u201ctrump\u201d or trading cards, stickers, and other merchandise, which can make the trend appear harmless or playful.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Why can it be scary or inappropriate?<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite being framed as humour, this content can be upsetting for younger children because:<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li>Distorted faces, sudden movements, and loud voices can feel threatening or frightening<\/li><li>Shouting and aggressive tones may cause anxiety<\/li><li>Some themes are dark or confusing, especially when children don\u2019t understand them<\/li><li>The repetitive nature of the content makes it hard to forget or ignore<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are aware that some younger children have experienced nightmares or disturbed sleep after seeing or hearing certain characters. In the weeks leading up to this special Madrid festivity, the children worked hard to prepare everything for the big day. As part of their learning, the children explored some of Madrid\u2019s most iconic landmarks. They decorated famous sights such as the Cuatro Torres, Plaza Mayor, Puerta de Alcal\u00e1, and El Oso y el Madro\u00f1o, a much-loved symbol of the city.<\/div><div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The celebration would not have been complete without traditional treats. The children enjoyed making dough and preparing delicious Spanish rosquillas, which were a great success! To help us stay cool in the warm weather, we prepared some refreshments, including homemade lemonade and rosquillas for the adults. \u00a0<\/div><div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">We continued with a lively atmosphere as the children danced and played to traditional chotis music, fully embracing the spirit of San Isidro. It was a highly enriching day that combined learning, creativity, and a strong sense of community, offering valuable opportunities for the children to engage with and appreciate this important local tradition while sharing meaningful experiences together.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aadc2eb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"aadc2eb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\nWHAT IS HAPPENING IN PRIMARY<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a44e6fc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a44e6fc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>Tinga Tinga in Key Stage 2<\/b><\/p><div class=\"elementToProof\">On Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th April, LKS2 and UKS2 transformed their classrooms into art galleries to showcase their art project based on the Tanzanian artist Edward Tingatinga. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to teach their families about the design process of their work and impress them with their knowledge of art and of the artist.\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">The children demonstrated, in detail, each step of the process. These steps included: researching the life of the artist, what inspired his work, and the style he developed; sketching skills and learning to draw African animals; exploring the shapes and colours of typical Tanzanian and Kenyan traditional fabric patterns; painting colour palettes to create emotive background effects. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their swimming abilities while earning valuable points for their respective houses in the race for the prestigious House Swimming Cup.<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">Throughout the day, pupils competed in a variety of swimming events, demonstrating determination, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship. Whether competing for a place on the podium, cheering on teammates from the poolside, or simply taking part and representing their house with pride, every student contributed to the positive atmosphere that made the event such a success.<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">The competition remained close throughout, with all four houses battling hard to accumulate points. House spirit was on full display, as pupils encouraged one another and celebrated both individual achievements and collective successes. The enthusiasm and support shown by participants helped create a memorable occasion and a fitting celebration of another successful school year.<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">After an exciting series of races, the final standings were:<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">\ud83e\udd47 Deers\u00a0\u2013 728 points\u00a0(Champions)<br \/>\ud83e\udd48 Foxes\u00a0\u2013 707 points<br \/>\ud83e\udd49 Badgers\u00a0\u2013 671 points<br \/>\ud83c\udfc5 Owls\u00a0\u2013 616 points<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">Congratulations to Deers House, who claimed this year\u2019s House Swimming Cup with an impressive total of 728 points. Their consistent performances across the competition, combined with excellent teamwork and house spirit, secured them the title of House Swimming Cup Champions 2026.<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">A huge well done must also go to Foxes, Badgers, and Owls, who all competed with great determination and enthusiasm throughout the event. The standard of competition was high, and every participant should be proud of their efforts.<\/p><p class=\"x_ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message x_skipProofing\">Thank you to all pupils, staff, and organisers who helped make the House Swimming Cup such an enjoyable and successful event. During the day, the children had the opportunity to work with professional golf coaches who guided them through both long game and short game techniques, helping them to improve their skills while building confidence and enjoyment in the sport.<\/p><p>One of the highlights of the visit was the chance to use the club\u2019s state-of-the-art Top Tracer technology. The students were excited to take part in interactive mini games, accuracy challenges, and target-based activities that made the learning experience both fun and highly engaging. The combination of technology and coaching created a dynamic atmosphere where all the children were motivated to do their best.<\/p><p>Throughout the visit, the students demonstrated excellent behaviour, enthusiasm, and teamwork. The instructors were extremely complimentary not only about the children\u2019s positive attitude and conduct, but also about their impressive technical ability and willingness to learn. It was wonderful to see so many students showing confidence, determination, and a genuine passion for the game.<\/p><p>Following the success of the visit, the children now have the exciting opportunity to continue developing their golfing skills through free classes offered at the club. at Richmond Park School<\/strong><\/p><p>To celebrate the feast day of San Isidro, the patron saint of Madrid, our Primary pupils enjoyed a day full of tradition, learning and community spirit.<\/p><p>In the days leading up to the celebration, a series of assemblies took place, giving pupils the opportunity to learn more about the life of San Isidro and the customs associated with this uniquely Madrid festival. These sessions helped pupils to understand the historical and cultural significance of the celebration, encouraging an appreciation of local traditions.<\/p><p>In addition, a San Isidro poster competition was organised, allowing pupils to showcase their creativity by depicting typical scenes from the festivities. They also designed postcards of Madrid and invitations to the verbena (traditional street festival), which they proudly presented to the Reception pupils.<\/p><p>As the highlight of the celebrations, the eagerly anticipated San Isidro verbena took place, complete with music and dancing. Pupils enjoyed learning and performing the traditional chotis in a cheerful and festive atmosphere. After visiting the birthplace of the famous writer and discovering many interesting facts about life in the city during the 16th century, they enjoyed a walk through the historic Jewish Quarter, passing beneath the beautiful arcades of Calle Mayor before arriving at the renowned Plaza de Cervantes. There, they stopped to admire the fa\u00e7ade of the Corral de Comedias, one of Spain\u2019s oldest theatres.<\/p><p class=\"elementToProof\">The group then visited the historic University of Alcal\u00e1, where pupils learnt about university life in past centuries. It was truly a memorable day for Year 4 and the teachers!<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">The visit began with a fascinating holographic introduction, where the children were introduced to Cleopatra and the key moments of her life. This engaging visual presentation immediately captured their attention and set the scene for the rest of the experience.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">The children then \u201ctravelled\u201d to ancient Alexandria, where they explored different aspects of Egyptian history and culture. They had the opportunity to read hieroglyphics, observe a detailed 3D map of the ancient city, and learn about the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria. This part of the visit helped bring their classroom learning to life in an exciting and interactive way.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">One of the highlights of the day was the 360-degree cinema room. Here, the children were fully immersed in Cleopatra\u2019s story, experiencing the different stages of her life all around them. The visuals and sounds made it feel as though they were stepping back in time, and many of the children were truly in awe.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">To finish the visit, the children worked collaboratively in groups using virtual reality. The work was aimed at giving students the opportunity to explore themes of nature through the lens of different curriculum subjects, thus giving them a rich learning experience and a deep appreciation of our natural world.<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">This cross-curricular project culminated on 31 April\u00a0with a concert and sharing of work.<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">The students presented their learning about plants and pollination from their science lessons and a trip to a workshop at the Botanical Gardens. They demonstrated their artistic skills in a presentation of their Celtic knotwork, incorporating designs inspired by nature. They performed their own poems based on Spanish plants and animals, as well as reciting &#8216;Tyger Tyger&#8217; by William Blake. The students had studied how composers across time had represented nature in their musical composition, and then we enjoyed the composition work of some of our Year 7 students.\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">The performance featured singing and iPad nature sounds that transported the audience to the wilderness. Through research, collaboration, and creative activities, students have explored how the first inhabitants of the peninsula lived, adapted to their environment, and developed early societies over thousands of years.<\/p><p>As part of this project, students investigated key stages of prehistory, including the Paleolithic, Neolithic, and Metal Ages. They analysed archaeological discoveries, prehistoric cave art, tools, settlements, and daily life, gaining a greater appreciation for how historians and archaeologists reconstruct the past. The project encouraged students to think critically, ask questions, and connect historical evidence with the development of human civilisation.<\/p><p>Working both independently and in groups, students demonstrated excellent creativity and enthusiasm through presentations, models, posters, and research tasks. This hands-on approach not only strengthened their historical knowledge, but also helped develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and independent inquiry.<\/p><p>We are very proud of the effort and engagement shown by Year 8 throughout this project. This exciting experience allowed students to step outside the classroom and use French in meaningful everyday situations, helping to build both their confidence and communication skills.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, students interacted with the French-speaking staff, asked questions, placed their own orders, and practised conversational expressions they have been learning in lessons. From ordering pastries and drinks to responding politely and understanding spoken French, students demonstrated great enthusiasm and independence throughout the activity.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a delicious French breakfast together, creating a warm and enjoyable atmosphere while continuing to practise the language naturally with their classmates and teachers. Experiences like these are invaluable in helping students see the practical purpose of language learning and encouraging them to use French with confidence beyond the classroom environment.<\/p>\n<p>It was a highly engaging, enjoyable, and memorable cultural experience for all involved. This hands-on experience allowed students to apply their classroom learning to real-life environments while developing important geographical enquiry and research skills.<\/p><p>Using a model commonly applied in London to evaluate how \u201chealthy and liveable\u201d urban spaces are, students worked collaboratively in groups to assess different locations close to the school. The investigation focused on three contrasting areas, all located within a five-minute walk of the school grounds: a local park, a residential neighbourhood, and the nearby commercial centre.<\/p><p>At each location, students carried out a range of fieldwork activities designed to help them analyse the quality of the urban environment. These included conducting an environmental quality survey, completing traffic and pedestrian counts, and interviewing local residents to gather their opinions about liveability in the area. Through these activities, students explored important themes such as safety, accessibility, pollution, green spaces, and community wellbeing.<\/p><p>The experience provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop their observation, data collection, teamwork, and communication skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how cities can be designed to improve people\u2019s quality of life. It was wonderful to see students so engaged, curious, and enthusiastic as they worked like real geographers in the field.<\/p><p>We are extremely proud of the maturity, collaboration, and dedication shown by Year 9 throughout this project. As part of their learning, students were challenged to research an element of their choice and present their findings through creative presentations and models.<\/p><p>The project encouraged students to develop both their scientific knowledge and their creativity. They investigated the properties, uses, history, and importance of different elements, while also considering how to communicate their ideas clearly and effectively.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"elementToProof\">Students showed excellent effort and enthusiasm throughout the project, taking great pride in their work and demonstrating a strong understanding of key scientific concepts. The concert highlighted the ensemble skills of our students through singing together and performing in class instrumental ensembles.\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">A range of musical topic and composition work was shown through short videos. The creative artwork of the students demonstrated their animation and ceramics work.\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">A particular highlight was the Year 9 songwriting. Each Year 9 class performed a protest song written by students in the class, calling for freedom of speech and rights for people and animals alike.\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"elementToProof\">The co-curricular wind band (flutes, clarinets and saxophone) and advanced band added their unique performances to the concert. The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase the culmination of their learning and demonstrate the critical thinking skills they have developed throughout the Diploma Programme.<\/p><p>As part of the exhibition, each student selected one of the 35 prompts from the TOK Guide and explored it through three carefully chosen objects. These objects ranged from personal items to artefacts of global significance, each serving as a lens through which students examined how knowledge is created, shared and understood. Through their presentations, students demonstrated how TOK concepts connect to real-world situations and highlighted the ways in which knowledge manifests itself in the world around us.<\/p><p>Visitors were impressed by the depth of analysis, creativity and personal engagement evident in the exhibitions. Students confidently explained the significance of their chosen objects, justified their selections and reflected on the relationships between knowledge, perspective, culture and experience. conference &#8211; Madrid 2026<\/strong><\/p><div><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Our Year 12 IB students have demonstrated their excellence by representing the school at the Model United Nations Conference in Madrid. Our first cohort of IB students are making huge progress with the IB, demonstrating leadership, intelligence, communication and the skills required to be successful with their studies and achieve excellent grades in the IB. We are delighted for their success.<\/span><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The delegates were prepared and accompanied by Ms Meredith. We are very pleased that our confident and collaborative communicators spoke and debated effectively in front of many other delegates from around 40 schools in Spain and around Europe, Africa and the US.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The whole delegation won \u2018Best Delegation at MUN Madrid\u2019. Congratulations to Marcos, Diana, Mia, Ulises, Carlota, Mateo, Arturo and Sara. The tournament achieved a record participation with a total of 175 players representing 39 schools, all competing in teams of four players.<\/p><p>Our students proudly took part in the competition for the third consecutive year, continuing to strengthen our school\u2019s presence in this prestigious event. Throughout the day, the team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and commitment both on and off the course. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, embracing the competitive spirit of the tournament while also supporting and encouraging one another at every stage.<\/p><p>The event provided a wonderful opportunity for our golfers to meet students from other schools, challenge themselves in a competitive environment, and further develop their passion for the game. Above all, the day was marked by outstanding team spirit, positive attitudes, and memorable moments shared together.<\/p><p>A special mention goes to our golf teacher, Mr Ward, who coached the team and supported the students throughout the entire day. The team came out with confidence and intensity, but faced some fierce competition.<\/p><p>Despite this, our players stayed focused. After the break, they adjusted their approach, pushed the pace, and executed the fast break with much more clarity. By running the floor and attacking before the defense could set up, they gradually built a solid lead. Throughout the day, students and teachers joined in with great enthusiasm, creating a positive and energetic atmosphere across the school. It was wonderful to see everyone taking part, supporting one another, and enjoying the opportunity to focus on wellbeing and physical activity together.<\/p><p>The session was filled with smiles, concentration, and teamwork as participants practised a variety of yoga positions and movements. Events like these are a fantastic way to encourage healthy lifestyles, mindfulness, and a strong sense of community within our school. It was inspiring to watch students and staff of all ages getting involved and trying their very best.<\/p><p>A huge thank you goes to Ms Josselyn and the PE team for their hard work and excellent organisation in making the event such a success. Their dedication and enthusiasm helped ensure that everyone had an enjoyable and memorable experience.<\/p><p>We are already looking forward to the next RichMOVE initiative, which will be coming soon.
