Estimados padres,<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

La lectura deber\u00c1\u00ada jugar una parte importante en la vida de los ni\u00f1os. Desde la infancia, las historias crean inter\u00e9s y diversi\u00f3n, estimulan su imaginaci\u00f3n, satisfacen su curiosidad innata. Tambi\u00e9n les ayuda a comprender lo que est\u00e1 pasando en sus vidas o imaginar lo que podr\u00c1\u00ada pasarles a ellos o a los dem\u00e1s. Las historias muestran distintas narrativas de la vida, cuentan lo que pasa. Con un buen libro, nos perdemos en el argumento, suspendemos nuestra incredulidad. Los ni\u00f1os necesitan este escape para traerles de vuelta a la realidad. Los padres podemos contribuir significativamente en este proceso escuchando c\u00f3mo leen, leyendo con ellos, leyendo nosotros mismos, y hablando sobre libros. <\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de la propia satisfacci\u00f3n, la lectura ofrece conocimiento y ayuda a crear comprensi\u00f3n. Leyendo mucho, los alumnos aprenden mucho m\u00e1s, hacen conexiones m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente, comprenden con m\u00e1s facilidad. Tambi\u00e9n adquieren un mejor conocimiento del lenguaje en s\u00c1\u00ad mismo. Aumentan su vocabulario; mejoran sus habilidades t\u00e9cnicas como, por ejemplo, gram\u00e1tica y ortograf\u00c1\u00ada; y adquieren mayor confianza usando el idioma. <\/p>\n

En la actualidad, la lectura est\u00e1 en un proceso de cambio. Muchos pasamos la mayor\u00c1\u00ada de nuestro tiempo pasando pantallas de ordenador o haciendo clic para pasar a la siguiente p\u00e1gina de un libro electr\u00f3nico. Esta transformaci\u00f3n es, en algunos aspectos cruciales, positiva. El acceso al conocimiento es mucho m\u00e1s amplio, m\u00e1s inclusivo y m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido, los ni\u00f1os encuentran textos de muchas fuentes distintas, y practican capacidades clave como revisar y analizar. Este modo de lectura moderno acelera las cosas. <\/p>\n

Para mantener el equilibrio, los ni\u00f1os deber\u00c1\u00adan seguir leyendo libros \u201creales\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2 y seguir haciendo uso de la aproximaci\u00f3n tradicional a la lectura. Un reciente art\u00c1\u00adculo en The New York Times (encontrar\u00e1n el enlace m\u00e1s abajo) hac\u00c1\u00ada referencia al trabajo de la Profesora Baron de la American University. Ella enfatiza la necesidad de, en ocasiones, frenar un poco, hacerse preguntas y reflexionar, llevando a cabo lo que con frecuencia es llamado \u201clectura de di\u00e1logo\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2 y desarrollar \u201cla lectura profunda, atenta, concentrada en el texto\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2. Tambi\u00e9n afirma que los estudiantes obtienen mejores resultados en tests cuando imprimen p\u00e1ginas, y escriben redacciones m\u00e1s elaboradas cuando pueden referirse a textos tradicionales. <\/p>\n

En Richmond Park School, nuestro \u201cblended learning programme\u201c ayuda a los alumnos a aprender de formas distintas. De manera similar, como comunidad, necesitamos promover la lectura combinada. Los ni\u00f1os necesitan leer tanto libros como textos electr\u00f3nicos, pasar la p\u00e1gina y pulsar el bot\u00f3n, utilizar la aproximaci\u00f3n moderna y la tradicional. La Profesora Baron tambi\u00e9n explica: \u201cHay muchos j\u00f3venes que hablan acerca del olor de los libros; se refieren a leer libros impresos como \u2018leer de verdad\u2019\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2. Tenemos que asegurarnos de que los ni\u00f1os no pierdan ese sentido del olfato. <\/p>\n\n
